For two performances only, Hong Kong Ballet presents the U.S. premiere of artistic director Septime Webre's version of Shakespeare's tale of forbidden love and very unfortunate timing, set to music by Sergei Prokofiev. In this lavishly costumed version, relocated to 1960s Hong Kong, Lord Capulet is a Shangainese magnate intent on finding a Caucasian husband for his daughter, and the fight scenes incorporate elements of kung fu. The title roles are danced by Alejandro Virelles and Ye Feifei on January 13 and Taras Domitro and Xuan Cheng on January 14.
