Founded by modern dance titan José Limón in 1946, Limón Dance Company continues under the guidance of artistic director Dante Puleio. In its latest stint at the Joyce, the troupe celebrates its 80th birthday with a time-spanning double bill: Limón's Polish-accented 1958 collection Mazurkas, danced in its entirety for the first time since 1964; and Aszure Barton’s 2025 commission Join, set to music by Ambrose Akinmusire and inspired by Limón's recollections of a lost work by company co-founder Doris Humphrey.
