Director-choreographer Dan Safer and his company, Witness Relocation, have delighted in the past with such innovative dance-theater works as Eterniday and The Loon. Now they continue their longtime residency at La MaMa with the world premiere of a meditation on the rise and fall of empires, divided into two parts: a solo performed and co-choreographed by Dance Theatre of Harlem alum Marcus McGregor—in his return to the stage after a long absence—and a duet for McGregor and Daniel Pettrow. Actors Kevin Mambo and Angela Winkler perform some of the text, which is by the prolific postmodernist and frequent WR collaborator Charles M. Mee; the original score is by Christian Frederickson.
