You may remember Reygadas’s follow-up to Japón attracting controversy, due to its opening scene of an overweight man being, ah, serviced. It’s not as good as the Mexican wunderkind’s debut, but trust us, it isn’t just blow jobs here; there’s a caustic commentary on Catholicism and his country’s class system beneath the shocking sexual sequences, if you care to look for it.
