The Dave Clark Five was always destined to lurk in the shadow of a certain Fab Four, and its attempt to duplicate the Beatles’ film success didn’t help matters any; you wish they would have just called this A Hard Dave’s Night and admitted they were aping their superiors. Still, Boorman’s direction is appropriately breezy, and the madcap spirit of the times comes through enough to make this a fairly cute musical time capsule. It’s also known as Having a Wild Weekend.
