Time Out says

Winner of the Grand Jury Prize at the 1990 Sundance Film Festival, Harris’s important independent tells the story of a black con artist who impersonates reporters, doctors and lawyers to make money. Harris all but vanished from the filmmaking scene after this feature, though he’s been championed by critics like Armond White and artists like Steven Soderbergh (who cast him in a small role in Out of Sight).
