Crazed Fruit

A seminal film of the Japanese New Wave, Kô Nakahira’s tale of two brothers and the girl they both fall for threw the country’s conservative faction into an uproar. (Just think what those uptight folks would have done if it had been released under something like its English title: Juvenile Jungle.) The brass freak-outs of Tôru Takemitsu and Masaru Satô add much to the onscreen mayhem.
