Time Out says
Trust us, nothing will test your belief system more than isolation, alienation and terminal illness. Bresson’s austere study of one clergyman (memorably played by Claude Laydu) enduring an existential panic is a perfect example of the director’s deliberate pacing and philosophical concerns yielding maximum drama. It’s essential viewing, for both theologians and cinephiles.
