How Green Was My Valley

Orson Welles fanatics tend to sneer at this pastoral drama, which admittedly didn’t deserve to beat Citizen Kane for the Best Picture Oscar, but it’s a decent little film on its own merits, with superb black-and-white cinematography and Ford conjuring up a lovely Irish sentimentality.
