Little Fugitive

There’s little suspense or dramatic incident here; the camera simply watches with bemused curiosity as a seven-year-old wanders around Coney Island. Not only did this film inspire the French New Wave, but it also seems to have foreshadowed the child’s-eye narratives that came out of Iran in the ’80s and ’90s.
