Vertov's younger brother Mikhail codirected this cityscape on Russia's urban crown jewel; it screens with "Les halles centrales" (1927), a short by the filmmaker's other brother, Boris Kaufman—who'd eventually come to Hollywood as a cinematographer for such films as On the Waterfront.
