From Fri 24 to Wed 29, the Film Society surveys recent Arab features and shorts of note, all of them supported by the Dubai International Film Festival. Highlights include Cherien Dabis's immigrant family drama, Amreeka (2009), and Narjiss Nejjar's modern-day fable The Rif Lover (2011). Nejjar will be one of the participants in a free panel on Sat 25, during which a group of filmmakers will discuss the recent Arab Spring and its effects on moviemaking.
