Hired by Kultkino's documentary department to make a film about Moscow's municipal bigwigs, Vertov decided instead to make a cine-essay about machinery coming to life in the name of prole glory. Suffice to say, his bosses weren't pleased. It screens with "Kino-Pravda No. 23 (Radio Pravda)," the last installment of Vertov's shorts series.
