The Butcher Boy

This tale of a misunderstood, murderous child is too gleeful and jaunty for its own good; Jordan declines to push the material into an expressionistic vein, so the final reel’s giddiness seems wildly inappropriate. It’s still worth seeing, however, for Eamonn Owens’s lunatic performance in the title role.
