The Dead

John Huston’s final film, costarring his daughter, is a lovely evocation of James Joyce’s turn-of-the-century Ireland (the story is the last portion of the author’s Dubliners). The movie also reveals a Bergmanesque impulse in the director, fascinating for a late-period work.
