Vlácil’s lyrical, quasi-experimental mood piece tells the intertwining story of a young girl on a Baltic island awaiting the arrival of a carrier pigeon, and of a wheelchair-bound Czech boy who injures the bird with his air gun and nurses it back to health. It screens with the director's 18-minute short "Glass Skies" (1958).
