The Witches

Scary flicks for young adults—films that are gentler but not wholly defanged—are rare indeed. Roeg’s uncanny tale of a boy turned into a realistic-looking talking mouse (courtesy of Jim Henson’s creature shop) gets the balance right. Anjelica Huston plays a mean witch.
