The Woman on the Beach

Renoir’s final American film is likely to provoke cries of “Vive la France!,” given how superior his homegrown efforts were to this halfhearted noir. Still, Robert Ryan and Joan Bennett try their best to lift this ludicrous melodrama involving extramarital liaisons and feigned blindness.
