True Confessions + Georgia

Film Society pays tribute to the late director Ulu Grosbard with this double feature. First up is True Confessions, a drama that serves as a reminder—probably the first—that both Robert De Niro and Robert Duvall are capable of mediocre work. But then there's Georgia, in which an emotionally naked Jennifer Jason Leigh plays an aspiring singer trembling in the shadow of her famous sister (Mare Winningham). Her rendition of Van Morrison’s “Take Me Back” is the stuff of legends.
