Un film comme les autres

The English translation is “a movie like any other”; if all flicks we saw consisted of factory workers and radicalized students arguing about politics, we’d say that was a pretty accurate title. At the 1968 New York Film Festival, Godard asked that a coin toss be used to determine in what order this two-part film would be shown—and asked for a vote at intermission on whether the second part would be shown at all.
