Resurrection and redemption figure prominently in Sebastian Barry's sly drama about this tale of five disparate outlaws hoping to pull one last big heist in 1916. Irish immigrant Trooper (Stephen Payne, using his gravelly voice to great effect) is the group’s haunted leader. Through dense monologues, we learn about him and his cohorts, and get a cursory American history lesson in the process. Director Charlotte Moore brings out the best in her mostly veteran actors, who boldly embody relics of the waning Wild West.—Raven Snook
