Learn about ladies who lunched in the 1800s at this lecture for food-obsessed history buffs. Assistant history professor Cindy R. Lobel will discuss the dining establishments of the day that catered exclusively to women and families, including ice-cream parlors and luxury hotel restaurants; she'll also look at how social class and gender played out in New York's dining scene. Make sure you arrive by 7pm for a reception, where you can sample tea sandwiches, madeleines and other dainty snacks of the period. Register online online before Dec 12 to reserve a spot.
