Inaugural Crif Dog Classic

Time Out says

Competitive eaters will stuff Crif Dogs’ finest franks down their gullets at this inaugural Independence Day wiener battle. Among the dozen challengers chasing the $25,000 in prizes are legendary eater Takeru Kobayashi—who holds a slew of Guinness World Records for devouring spaghetti, burgers and hot dogs—and West Coast Hot Dog Eating champion Tom “Goose” Gilbert. Sam Mason (Empire Mayo, former WD~50 pastry chef) will judge the clash. The race lasts just ten minutes, but the party will go for hours, with live music from Brooklyn rockers the Electric Mess and more. Spectators can sate their cravings at the Crif truck, while the outdoor bar doles out Roberta's popular pies in personal sizes ($8–13).
