Dylan Thomas, Dorothy Parker, Edgar Allan Poe—poets have always been fond of the bottle. But at this booze-soaked reading in honor of National Poetry Month, bartenders will proclaim their love of literature for a change. Mixologists from the likes of Clover Club, Ward III and the Beagle will stir up six or seven original concoctions based on their favorite writers and poems. While you sip one of each and nibble bites from Back Forty chef Michael Laarhoven, writer Bob Holman will read the literature that inspired the tipples, such as “Seal Lullaby” by Rudyard Kipling, which is the muse for the Ridin’ Stormy (dark rum, falernum, ginger beer, bitters).
