Pretentious is a' kind' adjective for the attitude that this salon reeks. The fish stinks from the head down!! Buyer Beware
I've had my hair blown out at Lovella Salon on 72nd Street numerous times and was always satisfied with the job they had done. I've gone to different stylists and always thought everyone was very professional except for Sarah who can be very pushy. In the past she would insist I needed a haircut after repeatedly telling her I didnt want one because I had just gotten one, but I let it slide. I stopped in this week for a last minute blowout and Sarah was the only one available. I didn't have a problem with her doing my blowout but prepared myself for her relentless nagging and negativity. As soon as I sat down before having my hair washed she asked what we would be doing today. I told her just a wash and blowout and she immediatly said "and a haircut", I said "nope, no haircut today I had my hair cut 2 weeks ago". I walked over to have my hair washed (while I saw Sarah sitting in the seat combing her buzz cut in the mirror) and aftewards walked back over to the chair. While blow drying my hair Sarah kept saying I "needed a haircut" and asked "where I got my hair done" with a look of disgust across her face. I let her know I went to Aveda Salon and reminded her I didn't need one. She then proceeded to tell me they did a "horibble job" and said she typically didnt say this about other stylists. I told her I found that hard to believe as she has never had a positive thing to say and told her I liked my haircut and that was all that mattered to me. She then said "you dont know any better". I then asked her to repeat herself because I couldnt believe she had just said that to a customer and she said "you don't know any better you're not a stylist". I told her I liked it again and that was all that mattered. I wanted to walk out and debated it but let her finish, paid and left. I have NEVER in my life wrote a negative review but couldnt keep myself from writing this one. I found Sarah to be EXTREMELY unprofessional and I write this to let other customers know if you would like a nice experience don't go to Sarah. I unfortunately can't bring myself to ever go into Lovella Salon again. She has ruined any chance of having a good experience in the future.
go to Lovella for haircuts, and have gone there for styling and color treatments in the past as well. I could not be happier with the service provided at Lovella, and all of the employees there are extremely well trained and professional. Avi, one of the owners, is who I always use for haircuts. He does exactly what I ask of him and he even encourages me to step outside of my comfort zone, and I am ALWAYS THRILLED with the results! I used Khirsten for styling for my senior prom and could not have been more thrilled. My hair could not possibly have looked more perfect for pictures, and my loose curls stayed completely intact all night. I HIGHLY RECCOMEND LOVELLA!!!
