Time Out says

Pepper Pastor has always been a beauty junkie: When she was 13 she began running a nail salon out of her parents’ guest bedroom, at 16 she took a job as a shampoo girl, and from there worked her way up to become educational director at a top Manhattan salon, which is where she met Joel Sonkin, a business man who never returned to his $20 barber shop cuts after a snip from Pastor. The two joined forces to open an unexpected dose of glamour in the South Street Seaport. The salon channels classic Hollywood with a dash of modern noir and leaves no detail untouched: Wrought-iron art deco gates salvaged from decommissioned elevators divide the shampoo bowls, a late 19th century sofa reupholstered in gold velvet damask sits in the foyer, and products from Philip B, Oribe and Intelligent Nutrients perch on floating wood shelves. Enjoy custom beverage service while having a personalized haircut (women $90–$200, men $60–$120), color ($60–$325) or opt for a makeup application ($75–$150) or brow shaping ($40).
