Shade Bar Boutique Spa

A crystal chandelier and black-clad staff greet patrons at this Queens retreat. Massage therapist Eliza Woznica started our treatment with a coconut-lemongrass scrub—a nice touch, as was the latex we were given to paint and protect our nails. They even blow-dried away the stickiness before dusting us off with an organic powder.

I used to come to Shade for my spray tans when Tricia was still working there. I was a tad leery trying someone new, but Daylingh was awesome! She was professional, courteous and very sweet. She provided me with the bottom of the feet 'protectors', a cap and a disposable panty. She ensured to position me properly to get all the "spots" in to avoid streaking. They have a fan to make sure you dry quickly before getting dressed. Getting naked in front of anyone is jarring, especially that close-up, but Daylingh was such a pro and made feel very comfortable. The result was an even, glowing "tan" that looked totally natural (I did medium-dark and I have fair to medium complexion). No orange-y look at all! Daylingh also works the front desk and she gave me a coupon for 20% off my next service. It's service and employees like this that keep customers coming back. Based on Daylingh's recommendation, I will be trying Anais for my next bikini wax (will update once that happens). If you want a spray tan, visit Shade Bar and ask for Daylingh!

This was my first time getting a spray tan and I couldn't have been happier with the result! I got my tan on a Thursday with Daylingh for a wedding I was in on Sunday. The entire weekend I got complimented on my gorgeous glow! She was wonderful and made me feel totally comfortable, and did a really great job. it lasted for as long as she said it would, (almost 10 days), which i was surprised by. I'll definitely be returning the next time I need some quick color.

My son's wedding was coming up, so I thought about spray tanning, but was veyr nervous about it. A friend went to Shade and she loved it, so I decided to go for it. The salon is very clean and the help is very courteous. They sprayed a very golden look on me, and I loved it. You will not be disappointed. I will defnitely return for more

This is the place for bikini waxing in Queens!! I had to write a review after such a great experience because they really know what they are doing at Shade. I had a very comfortable, non- traumatic wax at the swift hands of Anais. She also gave me a lot of after care advice and some great tips on facial issues I was having due to winter weather. She took her time and did not rush, even though there were other clients waiting for her. Next, I had a hair cut with Michelle and she is also great. I showed her a picture of what I wanted and after looking at it for a few moments she pretty much duplicated the photo. Michelle also took her time and did not rush the appointment. Great, great experience and I would recommend this spa to anyone. It is a bit pricey--$70 for a haircut and I gave a $10 tip. Absolutely worth it!
