Sharps Barber and Shop
Back in the 1950s, metropolitan men got groomed and shaved as often as women today get their nails done. For most gents, those days are long gone, but this American grooming brand is trying to change that by putting a modern twist on the classic barbershop. Sharps began as a men’s product line and has since opened two barbershops in London. It has now added the lobby of the swank Le Parker Meridien as its first U.S. location. The space has a retro vibe with tin ceilings, vintage yellow sinks and black chairs, but there are also modern amenities like mini TV screens embedded in the mirrors above each chair. The salon offers haircuts ($40), beard and mustache trims ($25) and buzz cuts ($25), but the real treat is the classic straight-razor shave ($40), which includes a face wash, scrub and several rounds of hot-towel applications. You can also enjoy gratis beverages including Brooklyn Lager, soda and espresso.
