Time Out says

3 out of 5 stars

Akwaaba means "welcome" in Ghana's Twi language, a fitting name for this gorgeous restored 1860s mansion with 14ft ceilings, ornate fireplaces, a wide glass-enclosed porch and secluded garden. The rooms are decorated with African artifacts and textiles, and all feature private lavatories. The Black Memorabilia room sports a king-size bed, a Jacuzzi for two and black and white photographs from the Harlem Renaissance.
