Ramada Jersey City

Unlike the other properties on this list, this hotel is not situated on or near the Hudson. Rather it’s at Journal Square. If you are okay with that, then you might have yourself a bit of a bargain. It’s a Ramada, so it’s neither luxurious, nor awful. In fact its 100 rooms are fairly well appointed, with flat screen TVs, mini fridges, microwaves and coffeemakers. Some even boast ergonomic workspaces and pull-out sofas. There’s also a gym of sorts. Parking isn't free, but wi-fi and breakfast are, plus there’s a complimentary shuttle to Newark Airport. Now about that location… although it’s further from NYC than the others, this hotel is just a short walk from the Journal Square PATH station, so it’s not quite the end of the world.
