Airport stays can be sterile, soulless places, but one such hotel which is crushing that stereotype with a class and style is the Westin Flushing LaGuardia Airport. Having opened its doors in early June 2025, the Marriott Bonvoy property is a tasteful addition to Flushing and a good example of how an airport hotel should be. And it has a great selling point—a daily shuttle service to and from the hotel to Laguardia Airport from 4am to midnight. Here’s why you should stay.
Why stay at The Westin Flushing LaGuardia Airport?
If you’re landing or departing late from LGA or visiting NYC on business or for an event, The Westin Flushing LaGuardia Airport is primed for you. This hotel reflects Westin’s established wellness branding, emphasizing rest and rejuvenation with a stay going far beyond what you’d expect at an airport hotel, and it makes its intentions clear. Upon entering the lobby, you’ll spot a lush green biophilic living wall amid an expansive, soft neutral-toned common area that’s gracious with space. My nose could also detect Westin’s pleasing White Tea signature scent.
Stunning spiral lighting fixtures adorn the lobby’s 16-foot ceiling amid a nice mix of spaced-out seating, an impressive Nespresso machine, and a workstation with two desktop computers for (printing out your boarding pass or checking into your flight). Get even more ready as a large kiosk sign displays information on upcoming departure flights including their times, destinations, statuses and gates. Across the way, a photoworthy white underlit staircase leads down to the lower level—or take the elevator.
What are the rooms like at The Westin Flushing LaGuardia Airport?
Amid the 246 guestrooms, categories at The Westin Flushing LaGuardia Airport range from king, double, and queen rooms, and five suites. Floors seven to nine offer city skyline views where you can see Manhattan in the distance. My room sported an empty mini-fridge, a coffee maker and a side desk and a good mix of plugs and charging stations, and the bathroom’s walk-in shower holds full-size shampoo, condition and body wash bottles and a wall-hung bathrobe is a smart touch.
There was also an in-room sample of Westin’s Sleep Well Aromatherapy Balm, infused with lavender and chamomile, and printed information on Westin’s Gear Lending kits. On my floor, there was a large ice dispenser and an Elkay water dispenser, where I could grab a small cup of water.
The standout feature? That would be Westin’s Heavenly Bed Mattress, which truly lives up to its name—drifting off here was impossibly easy.
What are the best things to eat at The Westin Flushing LaGuardia Airport?
Along with in-room dining, the onsite Blu Ember restaurant prepares New American cuisine with an Asian-influenced daily breakfast, brunch, and dinner menus. It holds an impressive 12-seat raw bar that puts you front and center of an open kitchen concept: At dinner, the main menu is divided into sections, starting with a raw bar and sushi including a chef’s choice selection of seasonal nigiri or sashimi that I savored every freshly-prepared bit: think caviar monaka and some seriously good East Coast oysters, too.
Other selections range from charcoal-grilled dishes such as a delicious Korean lettuce wrap with Wagyu bacon, to starters including a tasty crispy rice. Then, there’s showstoppers such as prime filet mignon, ribeye steak, and a Rosewood flat iron and shareable plates like fettucini bolognese and seabass tom kha. For breakfast, my brioche French toast was properly scrumptious.
That’s complemented by an across-the-way sleek cocktail bar, and the drinks menu spans signature and highball cocktails and mocktails and a selection of sakes.
If you’re venturing out, there are nearby coffee shops and places along Prince or Main Streets or Roosevelt Avenue. While the Busy Bee Coffee & Wine Bar is right next door, with a menu of smoothies, sandwiches, and beverages, I went to Sweet Cake, a nearby cafe and bakery with specialty coffees and bubble teas, macarons, Danish pastries, and cakes in many flavors—try the taro milk tea with a slice of pineapple cake: you’ll thank me.
What is the service like at The Westin Flushing LaGuardia Airport?
The reception staff were pleasantly courteous and helpful in answering any questions I had, and the team at Blu Ember were equally as friendly, and made insightful recommendations into what is best to try from the menu—if you’re undecided, ask for their favorite dishes.
What is the gym and pool like at The Westin Flushing LaGuardia Airport?
The hotel’s gym and pool are both on the lower level and it really feels like you’re entering a secluded little haven: it is quiet, spacious and wonderfully calm here, and an idyllic place for getting in a workout or swimming to try and combat any jet lag.
The pool is four feet deep (and has an adjacent mechanical lift for accessibility purposes) and is surrounded by a small mix of chairs and chaise lounges, along with both a steam room and sauna. Across from there you’ll find the WestinWORKOUT Studio, which has equipment such as a rowing machine, treadmills, an exercise bike, and a stair climber.
What’s the area like around The Westin Flushing LaGuardia Airport?
This hotel is in a ridiculously convenient location for the airport, but if you’re looking to explore Flushing—with spots such as Main Street and Roosevelt Avenue being the most bustling—you’ll need a car. As for public transport, Main Street Station is the nearest, and around a 10-minute walk from the hotel.
But don’t let that stop you from exploring all the actually cool historic buildings which are nearby. The Lewis Latimer House is just a three minute walk away, and it documents the life of the famous inventor (who worked with Thomas Edison on inventing the lightbulb) which is well worth a visit, and the Bowne House, one of NYC’s oldest homes, is just a five minute walk away—have a look to see if tours are available when you plan to visit.
Why you should you book a stay at The Westin Flushing LaGuardia Airport
This is a stylish hotel in its own right, but its airport-adjacent location and shuttle service make it a ridiculously convenient spot if you arriving leaving or arriving in New York City at an awkward time. Also, given it’s only a six minute drive from CitiField or Flushing Meadows Corona Park, it’s a great base if you’re in town for a baseball game, concert or to watch the US Open.
