Many trailers tell you to "see it in IMAX," but be careful: Not all IMAX theaters are created equal. Instead of a phony converted screen, Lincoln Center is Manhattan's only legitimate option, featuring impeccable projection standards and a top-notch audio system. You can even reserve specific seats.

With one obvious exception, toy stories don’t have the luckiest big-screen pedigree: The results are often either sugary cartoons for undemanding kids or noisy blockbusters for brain-dead teens. If the producers of The LEGO Movie had taken either ...

The clue is in the title: The second Fifty Shades film, Fifty Shades Darker, is aiming for the shadows. It wants to be a thriller, where the erotic risk of Christian Grey’s sex dungeon is upstaged by actual danger (of the non S&M variety) for love...

There are plenty of smart ideas and bravura visuals in this maudlin, ponderous and slightly ridiculous tale of aliens coming to Earth, adapted from a Ted Chiang short story. But to enjoy the film’s musings on language, time and how much we can eve...

Denzel Washington brings all the gestures, small and large, that animated his Tony-winning turn as August Wilson’s seething patriarch to this sincerely wrought onscreen version. It’s a Fences hemmed in by tradition. Unfortunately, the performance—...

Absolutely love having a real IMAX theater in the neighborhood - just went here to see the new Star Wars, purchased tickets online the day before and got to choose our seats. I love going into a movie with a solid gameplan instead of having to arrive super early and scramble for seats then sit through 30min of previews...here, we get to show up just in time to enjoy the flick without having to deal with anyone asking us if we can "move down" to accommodate someone.
