Time Out says

If you’re a visual learner, sometimes learning history is hard. But, at the Maryland 400 Remembrance Ceremony & Battle of Brooklyn Living History, you can see what happened right before your eyes! Just, with entirely new people in a way, way different time.

On August 23 from 12-2:pm, Old Stone House & Washington Park in Park Slope are providing re-enactor regiments from the Battle of Brooklyn for free (register here). This historical event features battle strategies and insights into daily life during the Revolutionary War. If you’re too psyched about seeing a war, there will also be historical costumers, live music and a scavenger hunt along the Gowanus Road to The Green-Wood Cemetery (what would be today's Fifth Avenue).

In order to make this happen, the Old Stone House & Washington Park partners with the Society of the Cincinnati of Maryland, the Sons of the American Revolution Battle of Brooklyn Chapter and the Michael A. Rawley American Legion Post to commemorate the Battle of Brooklyn. In other words, it’s legit.
