In a clubbing era that’s long gone, the Pyramid was a cornerstone of forward-thinking queer club culture. In what could be considered a sign of the times, the venue’s sole remaining gay soiree is Friday night’s nonprogressive ’80s dancefest, 1984. Otherwise, the charmingly decrepit space features the long-running drum ’n’ bass bash Konkrete Jungle, as well as an interesting rotating roster of goth and new-wave affairs.

This place was voted the best 80’s club in Manhattan, and I can see why. It’s like totally awesome dude! The Pyramid Club has been open since the late 70’s and used to be very popular with the drag community. Now, the club welcomes anyone and everyone who is looking for a great night out. Expect super cheesy 80’s tunes that get you moving, grooving, and singing along. There’s a downstairs goth area, as well if you need a break from the cheese. Drinks are reasonably priced you get service with a smile. If you are lucky, you might even run into the purple clad Prince impersonator.
