Although its name may be generic (ACME stands for American Contemporary Music Ensemble), this group is at the forefront of a postclassical movement that obliterates the lines between indie rock and concert music. Tonight it performs compositions by Jay Batzner, Rob Deemer, James Holt, Sam Nichols, Laurie San Martin, David Smooke, James Stephenson, Robert Thomas and Dale Trumbore, all of which were collected through an open call for scores carried out in collaboration with Sequenza 21 and the Manhattan New Music Project. The concert is free, but reservations are required and can be made by calling Joe's Pub at 212-539-8778.
