Blue Note Jazz Festival. When you think about the organ, soul jazz and the church come to mind. But you also think of organist Al Kooper, the white kid from Queens who testified alongside Bob Dylan and played on the Rolling Stones’ “You Can’t Always Get What You Want.” In Organ-asm, Kooper and three other organists—Band master Garth Hudson, funk specialist Robert Walter and jazz-rocker Marco Benevento—take turns with the first-rate rhythm section of guitarist Oz Noy, bassist Will Lee and drummer Anton Fig.
