Alexander Melnikov

The Russian pianist skipped over New York during last season's world tour, in which he performed all 24 of Shostakovich's Preludes and Fugues to promote his definitive recording of this underserved repertoire on Harmonia Mundi. This year, he finally makes his New York recital debut as part of the 92nd Street Y's Masters of the Keyboard series, playing the first 12 of the Shostakovich pieces, plus fantasies by Schubert and Brahms.
