Ambrose Akinmusire Quintet

Ambrose Akinmusire, a trumpeter and bandleader of vision and range, has been on a steep upward trajectory since winning the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Competition in 2007. At this free Carnegie Hall–backed Neighborhood Concert, expect to hear from last year's the imagined savior is far easier to paint, which featured not just the leader's fierce blowing, but also chamber-music textures, poetic singing, social commentary and free-floating ensemble intrigues.
