Too often when shoegazers aim their notes skyward, they end up in the far reaches of sonic outer space. To Asobi Seksu's credit, the band does a great job of remaining grounded in the framework of traditional pop-song structure, while still oozing the celestial sweetness of its stylistic forebears. Its latest is the new Fluorescence. Also on the bill is rootsy, spare indie-rockers Family Band.
