Atys

The spirit of Versailles invades BAM when William Christie and his pioneering early-music ensemble Les Arts Florissants revive Jean-Baptiste Lully’s 1676 opera Atys, originally composed for the Sun King himself and based on Ovid’s poem Fasti. The Opéra Comique production, directed by Jean-Marie Villégier, was first performed at BAM in 1989 and returns as part of the celebrations of BAM’s 150th anniversary.
