Conductor Marin Alsop brings her expansive vision to Honegger's disturbing oratorio Jeanne d'Arc au bûcher ("Joan of Arc at the Stake"). Director James Robinson ramps up the drama in this rarely heard monster from the early 20th century with a staging that makes room for a pair of actors, five vocal soloists, an ondes Martenot and four choirs.
