A pair of theatrical musical works adds some singable lines to the upstate arts festival. The exciting young director Kevin Newbury teams up with Leon Botstein and the American Symphony Orchestra for a production of Richard Strauss's rarely performed late opera Die Liebe der Danae, starring the rising soprano Meagan Miller. Meanwhile, noted British theater and opera director Michael Gieleta joins forces with choral conductor James Bagwell for a revival of Noël Coward's 1929 operetta Bitter Sweet. The complete schedule for the festival is available at fishercenter.bard.edu.
