Beethoven: Love Elegies

The Ensemble for the Romantic Century pillaged Beethoven’s letters and observations of his contemporaries to create the script for a theatrical concert trilogy about the unrequited love that plagued Beethoven throughout his life. The music for Part 1, which will be performed tonight, includes the “Moonlight” and “Appassionata” Sonatas, the overture from Fidelio and a number of rarely heard art songs.
