Bill Stewart's spry funk backbeat has driven many a combo for John Scofield, but the drummer is also savvy enough to negotiate the chutes and ladders erected by Martial Solal. Tonight he steers a fine quartet with saxophonist Chris Cheek, pianist Kevin Hays and bassist Doug Weiss.
