Tall-tale heroes do not disappoint, and neither does latter-day Dylan. Last year, he released a pair of LPs: the breezy Together Through Life (which includes one overlooked masterpiece, “It’s All Good”) and a Christmas album that we suspect has been brewing under his yarmulke for at least four decades; he just unloaded a pair of archival works, the killer Witmark Demos1962–1964(Bootleg Series Vol. 9) and a collection of the original mono mixes of his first eight albums. Dylan leads a killer band live—despite his myth, iconhood and body of work, his shows are oddly focused on the collective band, rather than star power.
