After starting out in a traditional black-metal vein, long-running Chicago outfit Nachtmystium has grown more and more eclectic, roping in goth, postpunk and psych on exemplary statements like 2010's Addicts: Black Meddle, Part II. On Oct 16, the group supports Silencing Machine, an epic and unrelenting 2012 set, as part of a spiffy Metal Insider showcase, also featuring sinister locals Black Anvil, groovy West Virginia alt-metalcore types Byzantine, Boston thrash-meets-grindcore purveyors Ramming Speed and harsh yet plaintive New Hampshire crew Vattnet Viskar.
