Carole King and James Taylor

Folk legends Carole King and James Taylor reunite on this mammoth world tour, 40 years having passed since their first low-key gigs together at the Troubadour club. Admittedly, the mellow arrangements you find on their early collaborations are preferable to the grandiose accompaniments that inevitably sneak in on megatours like this. But as for the two playing together, King remains as joyful and energetic as the smiley kid she once was, with a newly roughed-up edge to her voice, and a relaxed Taylor has visibly loosened up. They’re backed up by their original band, the Section, and what’s more, King and Taylor obviously love singing together. How sweet that is.
