An exacting and frequently brilliant local artist whose work touches on metal, prog, medieval music and contemporary composition, Charlie Looker—known for his work with Zs, Extra Life, Psalm Zero and other groups—turns up for a week of intensive collaboration. He starts off his residency Jan 13 in the company of saxist Darius Jones (8pm), and bassist Tim Dahl and drummer Weasel Walter (10pm). A Jan 14 guitar summit features two sets with Mary Halvorson, with Mick Barr and Tyondai Braxton joining in for the potentially dazzling 10pm set. Other sets feature Looker's avant-folk group Seaven Teares (Jan 16 at 10pm), an acoustic apperance by Psalm Zero (Jan 17 at 10pm) and bludgeoning improv unit Period (Jan 18 at 10pm). See
