Earthy singer-songwriter Chris Pureka performs with an earnest intensity reminiscent of Amy Ray on her latest, How I Learned to See in the Dark. Her soft melodies and mellow vocals almost seem better suited to a campfire gathering than a club. In support, Sacramento's Julie Ann Bee fronts Sea of Bees, applying her sticky sweet (but surprisingly uncloying) voice to Death Cab–style melodic glitch pop. It's a pleasing blend, and she's playing a week of NYC shows in support of current disc, Song for the Ravens.
