Time Out says
When Dam-Funk dropped his debut album, Toeachizown, in 2009, admirers immediately dubbed him the “Ambassador of Boogie Funk.” After nearly ten years spent working as a studio musician, playing keyboards for West Coast rap staples like MC Eiht, Ice Cube and Mack 10, Dam was front and center on Toeachizown, a showcase for his delectable home-cooked backyard grooves. Preparing to release a new album this fall, Dam and his live band, Master Blazter (featuring Computer Jay on keys and J1 on drums), are hitting the road alongside legendary Slave frontman Steve Arrington, whose infectious, soulful whine sat atop that group’s biggest hits, including “Just a Touch of Love” and “Watching You.” After more than 20 years as a minster, Arrington is releasing the Dam-Funk–produced Love, Peace & Funky Beats, which marks his return to secular music.
